Abstract (english)

Austria’s research system stands out for the way it connects universities, industry and society. Strong technical universities, medical research hubs and applied institutes create a powerful ecosystem for knowledge transfer, with particular strengths in AI, biotechnology, quantum technologies and critical materials. Highly international, deeply collaborative and strongly oriented toward application, Austrian science is helping drive industrial competitiveness, policy impact and long-term societal progress. The "Science Nation Insights" collection presents data-rich insights that map national research performance, collaboration networks, innovation drivers, and policy impact. Designed for academic and government leaders, these analyses help identify strengths, address strategic challenges, and understand how countries contribute to — and compete within — the global research landscape.
