Abstract
Österreich fehle der Strukturwandel in Richtung Hochtechnologie ist eine in jüngster Zeit oftmals verkündete Warnung. Vom not-wendigen Umbau des Innovationssystems sowie der gesamten öffentlichen Förderlandschaft ist dann die Rede. Bei einer umfassen-deren Betrachtung zeigt sich jedoch, dass es wenig Anlass zur Sorge gibt. Anhand einiger empirischer Evidenzen wird gezeigt, dass das österreichische Innovationssystem ein erstaunlich hohes Maß an Flexibilität und Anpassungsfähigkeit an die neuen Herausforderungen aufweist.
Abstract (english)
Austria is lacking structural change towards high technology is a recent warning that is often announced. The necessary reconstruction of the innovation system as well as the entire public support landscape is put to discussion. However, a more comprehensive analysis reveals that there is little cause for concern. On the basis of some empirical evidence, it is shown that the Austrian innovation system shows an astonishingly high degree of flexibility and adaptability to the new challenges.
