Abstract
Das österreichische (Aus-)Bildungssystem wie auch der österreichische Arbeitsmarkt sind durch eine starke horizontale Geschlechtersegregation gekennzeichnet: Neben Ausbildungs- und Berufsfeldern, die überwiegend von (jungen) Männern nachgefragt werden – etwa im Bereich der sogenannten MINT-Berufe, ein Akronym welches für Mathematik, Informatik, Natur-wissenschaft und Technik steht – gibt es Ausbildungs- und Berufsfelder, welche von (jungen) Männern deutlich seltener in Betracht gezogen werden. Dazu zählen Berufe, die dem sogenannten SAHGE-Ausbildungs- und Berufsfeld zugordnet werden. Dieses Akronym steht für soziale Arbeit, haushaltsnahe Dienstleistungen sowie Gesundheits- und Erziehungsberufe und umfasst damit Ausbildungs- und Berufsgruppen, in welchen pflegerische, sorgende, soziale
und pädagogische Arbeit geleistet wird.
Abstract (english)
The Austrian education and training system, as well as the Austrian labour market, are characterised by strong horizontal gender segregation: In addition to educational and professional fields that are predominantly sought after by (young) men – such as the so-called STEM professions, an acronym that stands for science, technology, engineering and mathematics – there are educational and professional fields that are considered much less frequently by (young) men. These include professions that are classified as SAHGE training and occupational fields. This acronym stands for social work, household-related services, and health and education professions, and thus encompasses training and occupational groups in which nursing, caregiving, social and educational work is performed.
